First traded as a Hotel in 1827 the hotel was opened by the then Earl of Traquair. The book by Sir Walter Scott, St Ronan's Wells (a Victorian spa ½ mile from the hotel) had made the area popular and people were coming from far and wide to "take the waters".
The building itself is quite a bit older and on close inspection you can see that bits have been added over the years.

There is a public bar with a real coal fire, pool table, and dartboard, where we serve bar meals.
We also have a lounge bar, which we use for serving breakfasts and meals for those who would rather not be in the public bar. There is a large enclosed beer garden with children's activity area.

We have seven bedrooms, all of which are en suite; all rooms have remote control colour television, tea and coffee making facilities and direct dial telephone.
Whilst staying at the St Ronan's there is a choice of places locally for eating. If you wish to eat at the Hotel you will find the meals are all home cooked using fresh Border produce whenever possible.
